Amazon has reached a new milestone in the race for delivery speed. The company has announced the mass rollout of its ultra-fast delivery service, offering 1-hour and 3-hour windows for thousands of locations across the United States.
This move is designed to compete directly with local supermarkets and convenience stores.
What can you get delivered?
Instead of heading to the mall or a local shop, customers can now have more than 90,000 different products sent to their door in record time.
These items include:
- Daily Essentials: Groceries, cleaning supplies, and over-the-counter medicines.
- Electronics and Home Goods: Items like phone chargers, headphones, and even air mattresses.
- Personal Care: Beauty products, health items, and baby supplies (such as emergency car seats).
Where is this service available?
The new delivery speeds are being rolled out in two main tiers:
- 1-Hour Delivery: This is currently available in hundreds of cities. Major hubs like Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Nashville, and Washington, D.C., are included, as well as smaller areas like Boise, Idaho, and American Fork, Utah.
- 3-Hour Delivery: This service has a much broader reach, covering more than 2,000 cities and suburbs, including places like Cornwall, Pennsylvania, and Arabi, Louisiana.
- Looking Ahead: 30-Minute Delivery
Amazon isn't stopping at one hour. The company is already testing a project called "Amazon Now" in select areas.
This experimental service aims to deliver groceries and perishable items in 30 minutes or less.
This project signals a shift toward "instant consumption," which is expected to become more common throughout 2026.
